A Bulgarian court will consider on Friday a request to extradite a French citizen charged with having been linked to Kouachi brothers who killed 12 people at the Paris headquarters of Charlie Hebdo magazine last week.

The regional court in Haskovo, in southern Bulgaria, will consider the request for the extradition of Fritz-Joly Joachin submitted by the French authorities at a sitting starting at 3 pm local time (1300 GMT), BGNES news outlet reported.

According to a European arrest warrant against Joachin issued by a Paris court, the French citizen of Haitian origin has to be extradited to France to face charges of “participation in an organised crime group whose aim was the organisation of terrorist acts."

The court in Haskovo decided on Tuesday to keep the suspect under arrest pending consideration of the extradition request.

Friday’s court ruling can be appealed at a higher court in the city of Plovdiv on January 20.
