The Bulgarian government approved the two-step increase of the minimum wage in 2015 at its meeting on Wednesday.

In the beginning of 2015 the minimum wage is set to rise to BGN 360, which will be followed by a further increase to BGN 380 on July 1 next year.

The Cabinet took this decision as a measure against the grey economy as well as a step to decrease the number of working poor, Darik radio reports.

With another decision the government approved the allocation of EUR 50 000 for addressing the global outbreak of Ebola.

The funds come from the allocation for official development assistance and will be provided to the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The government also decided for the allocation of additional BGN 2.5 million to state and municipal schools for sport activities and the preparation of pupils for competitions.
