Bulgarian right-wing party Union of Democratic Forces celebrates its 25th anniversary on Sunday.

Sunday noon, UDF leader Bozhidar Lukarski, who is currently Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy, is to meet with supporters of the party in Sofia’s Slaveykov square and they will then walk to the UDF headquarters on 134 Rakovska Street.

The UDF was founded on December 7, 1989 as a union of a number of non-governmental organizations and restored parties opposing the communist rule, according to reports of Darik radio.

Zhelyu Zhelev, co-founder of the party, was elected as its first chairperson.

UDF was registered as a political party in 1998 and a large part of the organizations which were included in it ceased to exist as separate political entities.

Today UDF is part of the right-wing coalition the Reformist Bloc, which is part of the Bulgarian government.
The UDF is a member of the European People's Party (EPP).
