The district court of Pazarzdhik is to decide on Friday whether Muslim spiritual leader Ahmed Musa Ahmed should remain in custody.

Ahmed Musa Ahmed was arrested after a special operation on Wednesday in Southern Bulgaria.

The operation resulted in the detention of seven people who were charged with membership of a criminal group preaching radical Islam and propagating war.

Prosecution announced on Thursday it would seek permanent arrest for the seven people detained, but the website Dariknews.bg reports no request has been received by the court.

Ahmed Musa Ahmed's 72-hour detention ends Saturday.

Earlier this year he was among the thirteen imams sentenced to imprisonment after found guilty of propagating anti-democratic ideology, but is currently appealing.
