Russian promoter Vladimir Hryunov called for paying more attention to the issue of the gloves used by the reigning heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

According to Hryunov, in the November 15 match for the IBF title between Klitschko and Kubrat Pulev, it became obvious that there was some irregularity with the Ukrainian boxer's gloves.

The promoter said this issue even required an investigation by the police in Hamburg, where the fight took place, as it represented a threat to Pulev's health judging by the state of his face at the end of the fight.

Hryunov's attention was particularly drawn by the fact that following each of Klitschko's punches, Pulev dropped with ease on the floor.

The promoter explained that he had had talks with an US journalist on the same issue, who was similarly interested in Klitschko's gloves.

His US colleague had recorded the finals of the last fights of brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, in all of which could be seen the same thing.

Hryunov pointed to the regular practice of cutting the wrist wraps of the Ukrainian boxers on the ring immediately following the end of the match.

After that the wraps were handed to the same person, who would put them in a package, and quickly take them away, preventing them from ending up in someone else.

According to the Russian promoter, Klitschko's crew were trying to establish a total control, while Pulev's Sauerland team were with limited powers, as they had paid for challenging only one of the titles held by Klitschko.

Hryunov explained that for contending each of the titles a fee should be paid, which equals to no less than 3 % out of the boxer's participation fee.

According to the Russian, Klitschko is highly unlikely to box in North America, as the means practiced by the Ukrainian are not acceptable there.
