Bulgaria has applied for assistance under the European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF) for coping with the flood damage in the northwestern regions of Vidin and Vratsa.

Bulgaria’s northwestern region suffered flood damage worth EUR 77.5 M in the period July 31 - August 2, 2014, according to the press office of the Ministry of Regional Development.

The aid application was submitted on October 23 by the Chief Directorate “Programming and Regional Development” of the Ministry of Regional Development.

The European Commission is to review the application within six weeks.

In the case of a positive decision, the EC is to calculate the amount of aid which Bulgaria can receive for coping with the flood damage.
