Bulgaria: Bulgaria to Use Foreign Expertise in Ammo Blast Probe

Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov has said experts from abroad will be hired to investigate the explosion at the Gorni Lom ammunitions plant on October 3.

The Midzhur factory was leveled to the ground by an explosion which killed 15 and wounded three people who were working there at the moment.

Tsatsarov told journalists that the Bulgarian team that was to inspect the site of the incident is affiliated to the Mizdhur plant's owner, Valeri Mitkov.

Mitkov is heading the Higher School of Blasting Activities Personnel Training (Sofia) with the University of Mining and Geology St Ivan Rilski where the experts received training.

Tsatsarov has so far refrained from saying which countries the experts will come from, the Bulgarian National Radio reports.

Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor refuted a few days ago Mitkov's own account of the events, with the owner claiming the blast was caused by sabotage.

There is no evidence backing this hypothesis, Tsatsarov believes.
