Georgi Parvanov, former two-term President of Bulgaria and leader of the ABV Movement (Alternative for Bulgarian Revival), has expressed willingness to engage in constructive partnership with the political powers represented in Parliament, the priority goal being  an exit from the crisis.

Speaking at a press conference after the early elections, Parvanov suggested that the parties could adopt a document on partnership aimed at exiting the crisis.

The leader of the ABV Movement claimed that issues such as the update of the state budget for 2014 and the adoption of the 2015 budget, as well the problems in the energy sector, required broad agreement.

Parvanov, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, informed that the party had ideas on how to stabilize the banking sector and to solve the problems related to Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB, Corpbank).

He said that one of the first steps of the ABV Movement in the 43rd National Assembly would be propose the establishment of an ad-hoc parliamentary committee tasked with unearthing the causes of the crisis in the energy sector.

Parvanov made clear that the results of the analysis could be used to propose new measures in the sphere.

He told journalists that the party was also ready to propose quick measures to stimulate businesses, such as simplifying licensing regimes, as well as social measures.

Parvanov drew attention to the fact that the ABV Movement had taken part in parliamentary elections for the first time and expressed his satisfaction over the fact that the party had managed to get into Parliament.

Stressing that the ABV Movement had doubled its support since the European Parliament elections in May, he claimed that the party had the potential to achieve much more.

Parvanov declared that there were no reasons to assume that the early elections had been fair and democratic, adding that there had been reports about massive vote buying in some regions by a number of parties.

He said that the ABV Movement intended to side with the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and to back any reasonable initiatives it came up with.

He also made clear that the party was ready to propose the introduction of a tax-free threshold.

Parvanov clarified that the long-term goal and ambition of the ABV Movement was a presidential republic, stressing that exiting the crisis was a top priority.

He said that the option of holding new elections would cause a catastrophe.
