Bulgaria: Construction Of Offshore Part Of South Stream To Start In November

The laying of pipes on the bottom of Black Sea for the South Stream gas pipeline starts in November, said the spokesperson of South Stream Transport Jasper Jansen, quoted by the BTA wire service.

In his words everything was ready and the laying of pipes will start from the Russian side of the pipline.

According to Michael Sasse, head of corporate communication of the German oil company Wintershall, the stretch will be completed, because those were international waters.

“We believe that by the time the pipes are laid at the bottom of the sea, the problem with the ground part of the project will be solved,” Sasse said.

According to him, the ground part of the pipeline is being built by another company so it was their problem, but everything would most likely be solved by consultations within the EU.
