Moscow could introduce a special regime to manage its segment of the Internet, Russian media reports suggest.
Tests conducted by the Ministry of Communications have suggested the segment is "vulnerable" and measures to minimize risks are now on the table, daily Vedomosti has reported.
The paper quoted an intelligence source as confirming the information, but also adding such a move would be "provisional".
However, the measure should become an available option in emergency situations, the source says.
Both military action and protests inside the country" could be considered "emergency situations," the current draft plan envisages.
The transfer of control on domains to the state, a function currently embodied by the Coordination Center for National Domains in the Internet, is also being discussed.
A sassion of Russia's security council is indeed scheduled for Monday, according to Dmitry Peskov, Spokesman for President Vladimir Putin.
Its agenda, however, has not yet been made public.
