Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Convenes Emergency Meeting Amidst Flooding in Central and Eastern Europe
Poland has declared a state of emergency due to flooding in the southern regions of the country
An inter-departmental commission at Bulgaria's Council of Ministers will propose to the caretaker government to approve the allocation of BGN 26 580 640 to coping with flood damage.
The commission, chaired by caretaker Interior Minister Yordan Bakalov, held its second sitting on Monday.
The funding is to go to the following flood-stricken areas: Burgas (BGN 2 593 525), Varna (BGN 4 212 426), Dobrich (BGN 1 783 586), Veliko Tarnovo (BGN 1 892 723), Vratsa (BGN 1 560 538), Montana (BGN 860 731), and Plovdiv (BGN 2 363 875).
A total of BGN 3 139 773 of the funding is to be used for repairs of damaged road facilities and road sections, a sum of BGN 1 155 900 is to go to repairs of school buildings, and a total of BGN 380 000 is to be spent on rescue and emergency operations completed by units of the Interior Ministry and the Defense Ministry.
The commission also approved the allocation of recovery aid of a total of BGN 356 000 to natural persons affected by the floods from the districts of Dobrich and Pernik.
