Code orange weather alert has been issued for four districts in northwestern Bulgaria for September 15 due to torrential rains.

The districts under code orange are Vidin, Montana, Vratsa and Sofia district, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Code orange means that the meteorological phenomena envisaged in the forecast pose a potential risk to life and property.

Seven other districts, including Sofia city, Pernik, Kyustendil, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Lovech and Pleven are under a code yellow alert for potentially dangerous weather conditions.

On Sunday, Bulgaria's Ministry of Environment warned of a risk of local flooding and increase in water levels in a number of rivers, including Ogosta, Timok, Iskar, Vit, Maritsa, Mesta and Struma.
