Bulgaria may become an intermediary between China and 16 Central and Eastern European countries in the sphere of agriculture.
Bulgarian caretaker Agriculture Minister Vasil Grudev presented Wednesday a concept paper on the creation of a cooperation center to ambassadors and diplomats from 11 European countries.
China has already confirmed its agreement for the creation of a cooperation center in Bulgaria.
The unit also needs the approval of the remaining CEE countries, according to the press office of Bulgaria's Agriculture Ministry.
Speaking after the meeting an the Agriculture Ministry, Grudev emphasized that the center would bring together representatives of government and non-governmental institutions, social and business organizations, and companies from all 16 CEE countries included in the initiative
The main functions of the center include the creation of a platform encouraging contacts among potential partners, the coordination and planning of initiatives for joint ventures, encouraging trade in agricultural products, food products and drinks, and the planning and coordination of practical cooperation in the sphere of agriculture.
