Bulgaria’s Customs Agency said on Friday it has seized nearly 16 kg of heroin at Malko Tarnovo checkpoint, at the border with Turkey.
The drug haul was hidden in a Bulgarian-registered car that travelled to Bulgaria from Turkey on August 13, the agency said in a statement. The car driver was a Bulgarian citizen.
Customs inspectors found 30 packs inside the car containing a brown powder substance that field test showed was heroin.
The customs office in Burgas has launched an investigation.
