New medical standards will be introduced for Bulgaria's GP medics, reports Sega daily.
Currently it is being discussed by the Association of Bulgarian GPs.
According to the chair of the association Lyubomir Kirov, the main new feature will be the introduction of online consultations – via Skype, the social networks or e-mail – which are gaining popularity on a global scale. The option for telephone consultations, which exists since six-seven years also remains.
The setting up for an appointment in case of emergency (it exists, but is not widely used), would allow patients to skip the long waiting in front of the doctors' office. According to Kirov, in 70% of the non-emergency cases, patients could make an appointment within two days of the occurrence of the condition.
The GPs will be required to keep written documentation on the patient – test results, information on the medical examination, diagnoses, case histories, both on paper and in electronic format for up to three years.
