Ukraine Snubs Discrimination at Summer Camp in Bulgarian Resort

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has sent a protest note to the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry over discriminatory treatment at a summer camp for children at a Black Sea resort.
According to the Ukrainian authorities, Igor Abesinov, head of a group of animators at the “Mistral” summer camp for children at the resort of Sveti Vlas, banned the wearing of Ukrainian national symbols.
The accusations are based on the testimony of relatives of the children and eyewitnesses.
The protest note calls for an investigation of the incident related to “discriminatory and Ukraine-phobic acts against the Ukrainian children,” according to reports of Ukrainian electronic media, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry insists that the Bulgarian authorities take the necessary steps to solve the problem.
According to the protest note, a Ukrainian consul has arrived at the summer camp to provide the necessary consular and legal protection and cooperation to the Ukrainian children.
Asked by journalists to comment on the matter, Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that they had received the protest note and were working to solve the case.
