The state of emergency in all flood-affected settlements in Bulgaria's Veliko Tarnovo region has been lifted, the regional governor Georgi Rachev informed.

The drainage activities of the buildings and the cleaning of streets and bridges continue after the floods, Bulgarian Telegraph Agency reports.

Bulgarian town of Veliko Tarnovo declared a state of emergency as the Yantra river overflowed and flooded homes, businesses, roads and public buildings in the area on Thursday and Friday.

The towns Kilifarevo, Dryanovo and the village of Tserova Koria have also been partly flooded by Yantra and its tributaries.

More than 300 houses remain underwater and a number of landslides have been activated in the area.
