The European Commission has urged Turkey to pursue closer dialogue with the EU in the area of fundamental rights and the rule-of-law.
"I have invited my Turkish colleagues to decisively engage with the EU in a comprehensive and credible reform process and to allow close dialogue with the Commission in the areas fundamental rights and rule of law", EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele commented, quoted by the Hurriyet Daily News.
Fuele expressed his concerns with recent corruption scandals in Turkey, as well as "the rapid adoption of legislation that has not been consulted with the EU", during a working group meeting with Turkish EU Minister Mevlut Cavosoglu and Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag.
