European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva ruled out the possibility of becoming Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister.

"These rumours have appeared before as well, and they are not true. I am the EU Commissioner until the end of October, and I have no plans to leave my work unfinished", Georgieva stated for the private bTV channel.

Commissioner Georgieva was pitted as one of the favorites to become caretaker PM in 2013 after the fall of Boyko Borisov's GERB cabinet. Eventually the position was given to Marin Raykov.

Georgieva also commented on the possibility of introducing mandatory voting in Bulgaria.

"During the past elections, the Bulgarian people did not give a firm support to those parties who ended up forming the government, which is why we had such a difficult year. There is mandatory voting in a number of European countries. I am one of those who believes that the idea is not bad. As the saying goes...bad politicians are elected by the good people who do not vote", she claimed.
