A 29-year old French citizen, Mehdi Nemmouche, has been arrested in connection with the shooting at a Jewish museum in Brussels, which left 3 people dead.

The man, who is suspected to be connected to a Syrian jihadist group, was caught on CCTV cameras and later detained at a train station in Marseille, Euronews reported.

According to the BBC, Paris Prosecutor Francois Molins has said that Nemmouche claimed responsibility for the shooting. He had a Kalashnikov rifle and a handgun in his possession, as well as a short video expressing regret that the cameras had not captured the attack. Along with the weapons, a white sheet with the emblem of a jihadist group fighting in Syria was found in his possession.

Nemmouche arrived by car at the museum shortly before 2 pm local time on May 24, got out, fired on people at the entrance, and returned to the vehicle which then sped away. An Israeli couple and a French woman were killed, and a Belgian man remains in critical condition.
