Ukraine's Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, issued a stark warning, stating that a third world war would erupt if Russia emerged victorious in the ongoing conflict
Russia assumes the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council from South Korea on June 1 and will hand it over to Rwanda on July 1.
Russia's UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin told journalists at a press conference at the UN headquarters that the June agenda of the Security Council would include meetings on Afghanistan, on Africa-related issues, including the situation in in Mali, Cote-d'Ivoire and the Sahara-Sahel district, as well as a discussion of the relations between Sudan and Southern Sudan, according to reports of ITAR-TASS.
Churkin made clear that the UN Security Council would pay special attention to topics such as the Middle East settlement, the situation in Yemen and Libya, chemical demilitarization in Syria and the humanitarian situation in that country.
He noted that meetings on Ukraine could be held, despite the fact that there were none on the existing agenda.
Russia's U.N. Ambassador assured that the country would maintain constructive dialogue with other UN Security Council members and search for compromise solutions of any issues during its presidency.
