Bulgarian Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski has vowed to present a report on the achievements of the government and its updated program next week.

Oresharski came up with the statement after the cancellation of the debate on the fourth no-confidence motion against the socialist-led government tabled by the opposition over its failed energy policy.

"The main emphasis in the updated program will be again on key spheres, education and healthcare in the first place. We will continue efforts to improve the business climate and encourage investments in order to be able to meet people's expectations for bringing the country back on the path of growth and implementing social policies," he explained in a Friday statement, according to reports of investor.bg.

Oresharski claimed that the first signs of growth were noticeable but they had to be enhanced.

He vowed that the cabinet would step up efforts to achieve sustainable growth, thereby allowing more adequate and better-financed policies in spheres such as education, healthcare and public administration.

Oresharski praised the work of the government and expressed certainty that they were headed down the right path.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister expressed hopes that the postponed debate on the energy policy would take place next week, stressing the joint efforts to stabilize the sector which the government had found in a particularly destabilized condition one year ago.

As regards the probes into the "Environment" operational program, under which the funding was frozen by the European Commission due to systemic violations of public procurement rules, Oresharski was positive that the program would be restored after the respective sanctions and corrections were imposed.

He insisted that the objections which had caused the program to be stopped concerned a period for which the socialist-led government was not responsible, adding that most of the projects had been implemented in the period 2009 – 2012, the biggest ones in 2012.

As regards the missing report of the National Electric Company (NEK), which was one of the reasons behind the latest no-confidence motion, he said that a restructuring of the sector was being implemented in that period so as to ensure compliance with EU Directives.

Oresharski pointed out that there had been a delay by several years, stressing that it was not the fault of the current government, but had happened "for objective reasons."

He also made clear that he was not worried by the last-minute postponement of his meeting with Italy's Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.
