Transport Minister Danail Papazov and Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong discussed cooperation between Bulgarian and Vietnamese firms.

Papazov is part of a delegation headed by Prime Minister Oresharski which is on an official visit to Vietnam.

During Monday's meeting, Papazov highlighted the swift development of the IT sector in Vietnam ad the country's capacity in the sphere of manufacturing technology and equipment, adding that the opportunities for joint operations of Bulgarian and Vietnamese firms could be explored.

Papazov proposed to encourage relations between the business sectors of the two countries through bilateral forums or specialized meetings between the sector associations of Bulgaria and Vietnam.

He also recommended considering updating the legal framework for the cooperation with Vietnam by signing a new bilateral partnership agreement in the sphere of IT and communications.

Bulgaria's experience in creating e-government was among the main topics of the talks, according to a media statement of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications.

Papazov presented projects for automated data exchange between the main registers of the administration, as well as the electronic services which were being developed.

He expressed his satisfaction with the efforts of the two countries aimed at strengthening cooperation in the sphere of air transport by exchanging the texts of a new draft agreement on air transport.

They also discussed the launch of a direct flight between the two countries and the opportunities for Vietnamese pilots, air hostesses, air traffic controllers, and marine engineers and technicians, for studying in Bulgaria.

They also exchanged views on the prospects for accepting and processing cargo via the ports in Varna and Burgas.
