Regional government in Ukraine's Crimea region will not hold any talks with the new leadership in Kiev.

Crimea's recently appointed Prime Minister, Sergey Aksyonov, has justified this decision stating that his cabinet does not consider the government and interim President in Kiev to be legitimate, CROSS agency has reported.

Earlier this week, Russia said it had approved sending troops into Moscow because Aksyonov had turned to Moscow to help "guarantee peace and security" on the peninsula, after days of tensions among ethnic Russians, Ukrainians and Tatars living in the region.

Aksyonov was firm that Crimea's status could not be discussed with the acting leaders in the Ukrainian capital, thus refuting previous reports that negotiations could start between local and central authorities after a proposal by the Ukrainian MP Petro Poroshenko.

The regional Prime Minister also declared that issues regarding Crimean autonomy could only be solved by the peninsula's population
