Two new MPs took an oath of office at the beginning of Wednesday's sitting of the Bulgarian Parliament.

Iva Kuseva will replace the deceased member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Dimcho Mihalevski.

Kuseva, BSP nominee from the Burgas region, is a legal expert with substantial experience in the tourism industry.

Zoran Rangelov from center-right party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) will fill in the vacancy left by Vladislav Goranov, who left Parliament on February 14, according to reports of mediapool.bg.

Rangelov is an IT specialist who won a seat in Parliament in Sofia's 24th constituency.

Parliament Speaker Mihail Mikov announced the decision of Rumen Yonchev from BSP to leave the party and become an independent MP.

Yonchev is to join the ranks of the party of controversial journalist Nikolay Barekov, Bulgaria without Censorship.

During Wednesday's parliament sitting, MPs of ruling parties BSP and the liberal Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) rejected the proposal of GERB for the establishment of an ad-hoc inquiry committee tasked with controlling and inspecting the public spending and the selection of contractors for the construction on the fence on the Bulgarian-Turkish border.

The cost of the fence, aimed at curbing illegal immigration, increased from an estimated BGN 5 100 000 to BGN 9 665 000.
