According to a strategy of Bulgaria’s Health Ministry, helicopters can be used to transport patients to university hospitals and to emergency medical centers.
The helicopters will be used in case of emergency for transporting patients from inaccessible places thus bringing back the so-called sanitary aviation, Bulgarian private TV station BTV reported.
So far, the health ministry has not considered investing in the purchase of helicopters. The strategy envisions a public-private partnership that does not exclude contracts with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Transport.
The construction of landing places is yet to be considered, and they would most probably be located in the university hospitals.
The Military Medical Academy in the capital city of Sofia already has suitable site for the construction of a landing place. The strategy foresees using it to transport patients to all the other hospitals in the area.
The new strategy of the Health Ministry is yet to be put up for discussion.
