Pope Francis: The Internet is Gift from God
Pope Francis has called the internet a "gift from God" in a statement released Thursday, for the Catholic Church's World Communications Day.
The Argentine-born pope said that "unprecedented advances" in technology and digital media have made it easier to engage with people of different religions, thus "creating a sense of the unity of the human family."
Using the web to communicate with various groups, he added, could help resolve religious, economic, or political differences.
"The internet, in particular, offers immense possibilities for encounter and solidarity," Francis said. "This is something truly good, a gift from God."
Still, the pontiff acknowledged that the speed of social media can make it difficult for users to engage in self-reflection.
The pope reminded that the internet and social media should be used to foster real connections and relationships, calling for greater calm and tenderness.

Maybe it wasn't something at school, knowing me it was probably a dig at religion.
Internet a gift from god? Ja so I reckon all those peado priests who swap stories and pics on the WWW think so.
This is a progessive popeye? Sounds as if he just walked into Rome via the Amazon and Atlantic. Of course I realise the reporter has probably used journalistic licence.
Yhe Vatican is such a weird place and RC such a weird religion. They designed a functioning escape route for suspected WW2 Nazi criminals which was very successful...why? Surely not for money, they r not short of a Euro, Mark, Dollar or Pound or 3. Was it becoz of what the Nazi's could have revealed about the Vatican? After all they lived in Mussolini's garden! Food for thought, I prey (sic intended) it does not cause belly ache!
Einstein was Yiddish, Berners sound sclose to Bernstein... though as a philistine never heard of him. Yahwe is a Yiddish fabrication as is Allah an Islamic idol. So where do I go from here?
Hmm I had an imaginary friend as a pre schoolboy, Raker was his name and I belive he was to blame for all the naughty things I did back ten...hmmm...maybe he is due a reincarnation.
Two things I am proud of as a child, both standing up in a class of disbelieving 13 year olds. First in Religious Education...I wish it had been more a historical type lesson as RK fascinates me now as a Pagan. I think I was Pagan even then without realising the significance.
' I swear on this holy bible that i do not believe in the christian god, if i am wrong, if you exist, strike me down now!
The third I am not proud of, standing up, screwing a drawing up in Tech Drawing and stating I hate this stupid subject, stinging cane on bottom...deservedly so!
Bugger, old age, can't just recall the second thought though it was there when I started.
Then there was PE when I told a lad I could chuck a javelin next to his foot without hitting him and it nailed his foot to the turf and when I called the Biology teacher Sparrowlegs after she sent me to the headmaster for squirting ink onto a worm for disecting and saying; 'Miss, its so cold in this classroom this worm is turning blue.' Of course a modern, progressive teacher would have discussed why mammals turn blue when subjected to cold. I wa a bugger at school, too clever for my own good, expelled from grammar at 15!
...;-)...Believers "have no need of a brain, so plenty of blood to spare for being a pr*ck"-----Halleluiah, people!
Now You know what "instrument" such believers as Sir Albert Einstein and Sir Tim Berners-Lee were using
while creating Theories of Relativity and Internet, as well as who both of them really was/is........
I agree with the pope that the internet is a gift of God.
Engage with people, communication, etc. Perfect!
Although God's creations may have weaknesses, (not only the NSA story...)
God did some great things in the pas also, eg while creating the man, he provided him with two great tools, his brains and his penis. Although he forgot to provide enough blood to make both functioning at the same time...
