Bulgarian Cabinet Plans Major Reshuffles in Energy Sector - Report
The Bulgarian cabinet is currently working on a new action plan for thoroughly revamping the country's state energy sector.
The plan includes the splitting up of the Bulgarian Energy Holding, which currently comprises all state energy companies, into three, and the creation of a self-standing Ministry of Energy.
The so-called 16/16 plan includes 16 policies to be implemented by 2016, write a number of Bulgarian dailies Thursday.
According to the Monitor daily, the document is still in a preliminary working stage and both expert and political negotiations are yet to take place.
The policy measures also include new models to structure the prices of electric power, in line with a EU mandated liberalization of electricity market to be implemented in 2015.
The Bulgarian Energy Holding is supposed to be split into three companies - one for thermal and nuclear power generation and mining, one for hydro power, and one for natural gas.
The new Energy Ministry is planned to have three vice-ministerial seats, with one of them reserved for strategic planning.
Currently Bulgaria's energy sector is under the authority of Minister of Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev.
