Monika Panayotova, a Bulgarian member of the European Parliament, believes the scandal with Volen Siderov will stir international response.
"This is simply an unacceptable behavior, and the MP immunity cannot be abused in such a way", said Panayotova, a center-right GERB MEP, quoted by Focus.
Panayotova added that in this case, it would be most appropriate for Siderov to renounce his own immunity, but based on his recent behavior and comments, this is unlikely to happen.
Late on Monday, Siderov verbally assaulted a French cultural attach? during a Sofia-Varna flight and later attacked a passenger and a police officer in a Varna airport shuttle bus.
The incident already provoked a critical stance of the French Embassy in Bulgaria, which expressed its concern that a member of its staff could be treated in such a manner by a politician.
On Wednesday, Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov demanded that the ultranationalist be stripped of his immunity as lawmaker, noting that his behavior was "extremely scandalous and cynical".
