From the next program period Bulgaria will be able to carry out joint projects with more neighboring countries under the Program of the European Commission for Southeastern Europe.

This program involves Cyprus, Albania, Macedonia and Greece.

The statement was made before journalists Friday by Bulgaria's Regional Development Minister  Desislava Terzieva. She participated in a round table on "Current Problems and Improving  Regional Development Legislation."

The program has a budget of about EUR 80 M and will be useful for the development of cross-border cooperation between these countries. This cooperation will be discussed next year.

The Minister explained that she received Thursday correspondence from EC, which informed that the efforts of the country to be included in this program are successful.

So far, Bulgaria was allowed to participate only in the Danube Strategy for cross-border cooperation to provide opportunities to Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia to prepare joint projects with which to stimulate the development of border regions.
