South Africa is getting ready for a week of events to commemorate the life of former President Nelson Mandela, who passed away at the age of 95 on Thursday night.

President Jacob Zuma announced that the whole next week will be spent mourning the death of Mandela, but also celebrating a life well lived, reports Euronews.

Crowds have been gathering outside Mandela’s home in Johannesburg to pay tribute to their beloved leader.

Sunday will be an official day of reflection and prayer, with religious services to be held around the country in his honor.

Next week’s events will include a large outdoor memorial service in Soweto Stadium on Tuesday.

Nelson Mandela’s state funeral will be on Sunday the 15th, with leaders from all over the world expected to attend. He will be buried in his birth village of Qunu.
