Casualties Rise in Yemen Attacks

A series of attacks in the Yemeni capital Sanaa have killed at least 29 people and injured more than 70.
First, a suicide bomber blew up at the gates to the complex of the Defence Ministry. This incident was followed by a gun battle at a nearby hospital.
At least two foreign medical staff are reported dead, according to the BBC.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but correspondents suggest they bear the signs of al-Qaeda, which has been active in the country.
A high-ranking government official has blamed people linked to the former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Yemen's Defence Minister Mohammed Nasser is currently on a visit to Washington.
The country has been going through a difficult and violent transition since Ali Abdullah Saleh stepped down in 2011, following a series of anti-government protests.
