Northern Europe Bracing for Heavy Storm

Powerful storms are expected to hit northern Europe later on Thursday and lead into Friday.

The British meteorological services warn of possible winds up to 145 kph. The most affected areas are expected to be in northern England and western Scotland, reports DPA.

The northern parts of Germany can also expect strong winds and heavy snowfall.

Railway lines could be temporarily suspended in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Also, ferries between Sweden and Poland as well as Sweden and Denmark are expected to be cancelled.

Water levels in the North Sea could rise to record heights for the last 30 years, adds ITAR-TASS.

Parts of Belgium, Netherlands, and France are getting ready for the storm as well.
