Moldova Not Ready to Reunite with Romania - PM

World | November 29, 2013, Friday // 17:15

Moldova is far from being prepared to unite with Romania, stated Moldova's PM Iurie Leanca Friday.

He was responding to journalists' questions regarding a statement Thrusday by Romanian President Traian Basescu suggesting that the two countries, which share a common history and language, should reunite.

"We have very clear goals on Moldova's European Integration," stated PM Leanca in Vilnius, where he took part in the EU Eastern Partnership summit.

As part of the summit, Moldova, unlike neighboring Ukraine, signed an Association Agreement with the EU, as did Georgia.

"When we join the European Union, we will have a common political, economic and trade space, without internal borders. That is what we must be striving for," stated the Moldovan PM.
