Bulgaria marked Friday evening the 14th anniversary of US President William (Bill) Clinton's historic visit to the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

The US Embassy reminds that on the evening of November 22, 1999, the President delivered a memorable speech in front of thousands of Bulgarians at Alexander Nevski Square in downtown Sofia.

On his two-day visit to Bulgaria, President Clinton pledged long-term US support for Bulgaria's developing democracy, saying earlier that day, "We are committed to supporting Bulgaria over the long run -- economically, politically, militarily, and I think we will be doing it for many years."
