Russian MPs have proposed a draft law on banning passenger airplanes, which have been in use for over 10 years.

The proposal comes from deputies of the ruling United Russia party, Igor Brinov and Igor Igoshin.

If the law is approved in the Duma, it will go into effect from 2017.

Last week, a plane crash near the city of Kazan killed all 50 people on board. Despite suspected pilot error, it was revealed that the plane had been in use since 1990.
