Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
The leader of the movement "Bulgaria without Censorship," controversial former TV host, Nikolay Barekov, has threatened to stage a human body blockade of the presidential office in Sofia.
He requested earlier to be invited to attend the sitting of the country's Consultative Council for National Security, KSNS, summoned by President Rosen Plevneliev over the refugee wave. He has not received an invitation as of Wednesday, when the sitting is to be held.
Barekov says his people would form a human barricade to prevent former Prime Minister and leader of the opposition center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, Boyko Borisov, and his Deputy, former Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, from entering the building of the Presidential Administration.
Regarding politicians from the ruling majority, the former TV host said the leaders of the left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, Sergey Stanishev, and of the liberal, predominantly ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS, Lyutvi Mestan, will be booed and will "hear the truth about themselves."
"If they manage to go inside after this, OK then. We will not block Volen Siderov (leader of the extremist, nationalist party Ataka – editor's note) and the President because he is the host," stated Barekov.
Under the law, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Defense, of Interior, of Foreign Affairs, and of Finance, the Chief of Defense and the chairs of all parliamentary represented parties are members of KSNS.
Other officials and politicians can, however, be invited to attend, but only on the joint decision of all regular KSNS members.
