The Deputy Director of Bulgaria's State Fund Agriculture Milen Timchev has surprisingly resigned just three days after being appointed at the post.
He was appointed on November 8, together with an order for the replacement of the entire management of the Fund, and on November 11, Timchev asked to be released for personal reasons, wrote Monday the Bulgarian Trud (Labor) daily.
Timchev is Deputy Mayor of Municipality of Sandanski. He is the nephew of the Mayor of the town, Ivan Mihailov, who was elected on the ballot of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), but prior to that, for a year, was a member of the formerly-ruling and now-opposition centrist Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party (GERB), according to the publication.
The sectors he was to be in charge of – "SAPARD" and "Fisheries and Aquaculture" will be temporarily managed by another Deputy Director of the Fund, Atidzhe Alieva – Veli.
State Fund "Agriculture" is seen as very important in Bulgaria as it deals with payments from the EU SAPARD program.
