EU Increases Syria Aid by EUR 215 M
The European Union will increase its aid to those affected by the civil war in Syria by EUR 215 M, according to a media statement of the European Commission.
Kristalina Georieva, European Commissioner for humanitarian aid and crisis response, has arrived in the Philippines to evaluate the damage caused by the Typhoon Haiyan.
A Spokesperson for the European Commission was quoted by the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) as saying that EU representatives had been the first to arrive at the storm-ravaged areas.
The EU has so far allocated EUR 3 M for humanitarian aid to the Philippines and EUR 10 M to repair the damage caused by the natural disaster.
