Bulgaria’s President Rosen Plevneliev will meet with all his predecessors and Parliament Chairs from the last 24 years, on Monday, a day after the country marked the communism collapse anniversary.

November 10 marked the fall of communism in Bulgaria. On this date in 1989, an internal coup in the Bulgarian Communist Party led to the ousting of dictator Todor Zhivkov, after 33 years in charge.

Current President Rosen Plevneliev will host his predecessors Zhelyu Zhelev, Petar Stoyanov, and Georgi Parvanov, as well as all the Chairs of the National Assembly of the past 24 years.

The focus of their discussion will be “the achievements and shortcomings of the transition period”, “the expectations of Bulgarian citizens today”, and “current risks for Bulgaria”.

The meeting will take place at the President’s office on Dondukov 2, starting 11 AM.
