Only several dozen citizens walked out to block traffic in the intersection in front of Sofia University in the center of the Bulgarian capital Tuesday evening.
The rally later grew to 250 and blocked traffic at the nearby Orlov Most (Eagles Bridge) intersection.
The event was staged in support of the ongoing student occupation of the main building of Bulgaria's oldest institution of higher learning.
The occupation itself is seen as a continuation of summer rallies in Sofia against the perceived interweaving of politics and murky economic structures in Bulgaria.
Occupiers at Sofia University came out Tuesday with a new declaration reaffirming their demands for a resignation of the cabinet of Bulgarian PM Plamen Oresharski and dissolution of parliament.
Saying they are fighting for the future of their generation, the students formulated a list of long-term demands, such as better education, "bulidng of up to date and independent state institutions," as well as "abidance by the rules of morality and responsibility."
After the launch of the Sofia University occupation some 10 days ago, smaller occupations were staged at lecture halls at various other universities in Bulgaria.
