Protesting Bulgarian university students have demanded the resignation of the Minister of Education Prof Aneliya Klisarova.
"Minister Klisarova claims she wanted a dialogue with us, but says we are against rule of law and our demands were not civil, but political. Madam Minister, the only thing we want from you is your resignation. Immediately," wrote the students on their Facebook page "Early Risers Students."
With this words and trough Facebook, the student occupiers refused a meeting with the Minister of Education. On Saturday, she announced in an interview for the public television (BNT) that she has invited Tuesday "all students regardless of their civil position to meet with her, because she wanted to hear them."
In recent interviews, the Minister has also stated that students have the right to decide for themselves how to protest, but the place was clearly not in universities. She labeled student occupations, asking for the resignation of the government, definite political activity and stressed she was alarmed by the fact the students do not have demands about improvement of education in the country.
In a press release, the protesting students officially refused to meet with Minister Klisarova at 10 am Tuesday, according to the earlier schedule. They will give a press conference at 6 pm Monday in the courtyard of the main building of Sofia University to explain why they have made the decision to not meet with the Minister of Education.
A few days ago, the students refused to meet with Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski.
On Monday, the national headquarters of "Early Risers Students" is discussing further actions of universities, yet the majority's view is that the occupation and blockades, lasting for nearly two weeks now, should continue.
