No-Confidence Vote Achieved Objectives, Says Opposition Leader
The leader of Bulgaria's opposition GERB party and former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov claimed that the 2nd no-confidence vote against the government had achieved its objectives.
Earlier on Thursday, Parliament rejected the vote, targeted against the infrastructure and regional development policies of PM Plamen Oresharski's socialist-led coalition cabinet.
"It is irrefutable that without Ataka (the ultra-nationalist party), this government cannot function. This is becoming more and more obvious to the public", commented Borisov after the vote.
It becomes clear from this, that GERB's sole purpose in initiating the no-confidence motion is to expose the current government's dependency on the nationalists, to form a majority.
Borisov denied claims made by PM Oresharski that if the vote had been secret, some of GERB's MPs would have voted in favor of the government.
