Code yellow has been declared Sunday for twenty Bulgarian regions over the forecast of dense fog and low visibility.

The forecast is issued by the Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS.

The fog will persist for the entire day in northern Bulgaria – the regions of Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Targovishte, Silistra, Shumen and Dobrich, and will dissipate around noon in the regions of Lovech, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Blagoevgrad, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Sliven, and Yambol.

Code yellow means potentially dangerous weather, where the forecast is not for unusual meteorological events, but requires people to exercise caution

The mercury will climb to 18C – 23C across the country; 25C-26C in southwestern Bulgaria, and 23C in the capital Sofia.
