As Bulgaria struggles to cope with increasing numbers fleeing the conflict in Syria, a nationalist member of parliament has argued the county has fallen victim to Islamic colonization.
Speaking in an interview for the Bulgarian Nova TV, Magdalena Tasheva, who hosts a show broadcast on Ataka-sponsored TV channel, Alpha TV, announced that American and Turkish interests orchestrate the wave of Syrian refugees here.
"Bulgarian society’s interests are not well protected, which calls for the resignation of Interior Minister Tsvetlin Yovchev,” Tasheva said.
“Minister Yovchev is concealing information about the number of asylum-seekers entering the country and is incapable to cope with the situation.”
According to Tasheva the Syrian refugees coming to Bulgaria were sent by Turkish authorities.
The politician stressed that Bulgaria should close its borders with Turkey to prevent the country from an influx of Syrian migrants, following the example of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
A group of Syrian refugees in Bulgaria have already filed a complaint with the country’s Discrimination Protection Committee against Magdalena Tasheva over a series of shockingly xenophobic remarks that she has made.
In her media appearances, Tasheva has repeatedly insulted the Syrian refugees on air, calling them “fiends”, “scum”, “mass killers”, “cannibals”, “savages”, “Islamic fundamentalists who have escaped justice” and “terrible, despicable primates”, among others.
She has claimed that the refugees “are already stealing and beating people” and would soon “start raping and chopping heads off.”
