Bulgaria's Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski met with German football legend Franz Beckenbauer in Sofia on Friday.
"When I was young, I used to follow football a lot and you were one of my idols, together with Gerd Muller", said the PM.
The two discussed the importance of developing a good youth system and academies.
"The young talents should be supported and it is vital to have a good coaching staff", specified Beckenbauer, who is an honorary Vice President of the German Football Union.
Oresharski underlined that the state does not have large financial abilities and funding would have to come primarily from the clubs, but the government is committed to supporting the sport in every way possible.
Bulgarian Football Union President, Borislav Mihaylov, also attended the meeting, where a memorandum of cooperation between the two football federations was signed.
