Bulgaria's Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Fund (NZOK) are working on a new mechanism for dealing with the debts of hospitals.

Health Minister Tanya Andreeva revealed that there would be different payment rates for the various clinical pathways.

“Each hospital will have to present an individual action plan for its financial activities. We will introduce clear criteria for the contracts they sign with NZOK”, specified Andreeva in front of the Bulgarian National Television.

Andreeva claimed to have inherited BGN 320 M worth of debts in the state hospitals from the previous government.
