Bulgaria's Parliament is to start the debates on the no-confidence motion against the government initiated by center-right party GERB.

The GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) party seeks the resignation of the government over the newly set up Investment Planning Ministry, which is perceived to be of no practical benefit and only a burden on the state budget.

Bulgaria's socialist-led coalition government, however, insists that the accusations are unfounded.

The no-confidence motion is to be put to the vote within 24 hours after the end of the debates, or no earlier than Thursday, the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) informs.

The no-confidence vote is expected to be overturned.

In order to pass, the no-confidence motion has to be supported by 121 MPs, taking into account that center-right party GERB and nationalist party Ataka have a total of120 MPs, which means that the no-confidence vote could only succeed with the support of an MP from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) or the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) party.

Meanwhile, GERB vowed to initiate no-confidence motions over other failed policies of the Cabinet.
