Bulgarian law enforcement authorities' raids on the offices of Risk Engineering company are not directly related to the outlook of the frozen Belene NPP project, said Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev.

"The moves are part of our cabinet's policy to impose the rule of law in every sector," said Stoynev.

"But it is up to the court to determine whether there are any persons guilty of a crime in this case," added he.

"The raids however cannot be seen as indicators that the government has decided to build the Belene NPP," said the Bulgarian Energy Minister.

Stoynev said that Bulgaria's National Electric Company (NEK) will first have to face a claim filed by Russia's Atomstroyexport at an arbitration court against the termination of the project.

He also recalled that the future of the project was conditional on finding an investor and getting the approval of Parliament.
