Bulgaria: Bulgaria's Anti-Govt Protest Group Now Targets DW

Deutsche Welle, Germany's international broadcaster, was the target of the 99th consecutive protest in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, because it sacked without explanation the journalists Ivan Bedrov and Emi Baruh.

The self-proclaimed "anti-government online information agency" condemned the dismissal of journalists Ivan Bedrov and Emi Baruh from Deutsche Welle (DW) It appears that both were sacked from the media without any explanation.

For the protesters the unexpected dissmisal is an act against "the freedom of speech". As a symbol of support to Ivan Bedrov and Emi Baruh the DANSwithme protest group announced that the motto of the September 20 rally is "Today we march against Deutsche Welle!"

The rallies, at times reaching 20 000 and even 30-40 000 in Sofia, were triggered by the appointment of notorious media mogul and lawmaker Delyan Peevski as Head of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) back on June 14.

The protesters were not appeased by the subsequent cancellation of the decision and went on to demand the resignation of the cabinet over ties with oligarchs and a number of controversial appointments.
